Greetings USED KARMA readers - and those of you who access this column through John Derrickson's PsyPlan(tm) site (http://www.psyplan.com)! El Nino has brought an early spring to New York City. Never in my 42 years of life in the Northeast has there been a February without snow, nor 86 degree weather in March. When the snow arrived, it was after the vernal equinox and only lasted a few hours. Even though it had finally turned cold, it didn't bother anyone because it was light out - it was spring! The flowers bloomed about a month ahead of schedule, making New York City seem more like Philadelphia or London.
Throughout March many fires raged in Brazil, threatening large parts of the rain forest. Heavy rains were the only way to put these fires out. A New York Times article appeared in late March saying that Brazil had hired two shamans to create rain for this purpose. I smiled to myself, knowing that the Brazilian government had finally done something useful to address the situation. Sure enough, during the first week in April another New York Times article appeared saying that heavy rains had put out 95% of Brazil's forest fires, averting a major crisis. Of course, the article made no connection between the onset of rain and two shamans having been recently hired for this purpose, but we who read between the lines know better.
Some months column topics gestate in my mind for several days and magically coalesce into an article at the new moon. Other months the new moon passes and I still have no idea what to write about. Last month (regular readers know this column is written one month before publication) the first quarter moon was almost upon us and I still had no idea what this month's column wanted to be. I recently read Carolyn Myss' excellent book Anatomy of the Spirit. Dr. Myss talks about the importance of faith and giving oneself over to the Divine. So I decided that in order to write my column I would have to sit down at the keyboard and have faith that a topic would come to me. Lo and behold, the topic that appeared was faith itself!
How ironic that faith itself was the cure for my writer's block! But then again, the Universe works in mysterious ways, doesn't it?
The day before writing this I received a truly wonderful reiki session from a delightful being named Anne Husick. I asked Anne to share with me any psychic impressions she received while working on me. When she got to my first chakra, Anne told me that my fear of not having enough income was preventing income from reaching me. She said I had to have faith and trust the Universe. This not only reinforced the thesis of Carolyn Myss' book, but it got me thinking about faith as a sustaining life force.
I was not raised by religious people. In addition to being non-religious, my parents are actively hostile to ideas of both religion and spirituality, especially spirituality. Like Bill Maher, I now consider myself a "lapsed atheist." (After all, T.S. Eliot said that in order to write good poetry one has to know how to steal.) Understanding and accepting the concept of Divinity came to me through the study of quantum physics. The existence of a higher intelligence ordering the universe is the only way cosmological science can possibly make any sense. I don't begin to understand the mathematics of it all, but I know people that do and I have absolute faith that their calculations are correct. The more one looks, the more one finds faith operating in all levels of life.
Many people say they don't understand faith, yet the truth is they understand it implicitly since faith rules fundamental aspects of our lives. For example, we all have faith that the Sun will rise tomorrow. We have faith that gravity will still exist next week, and that the laws of Newtonian physics will continue to govern the gravity well in which we reside. So why is it so difficult for us to accept that everything taking place is for our own learning and evolution? Why is it so difficult for us to accept the fact that, having been given free will, we are co-creators with the Divine?
The pressures of the material world we live in often distracts us from the innate knowledge we all possess of the higher realms of spirit. We are programmed to fear so many things that we become distracted from those other worlds. (This is why it is so important to engage in spiritual practices and mystical pursuits.) Just look at the evening news stories - fires, floods, murders, muggings, stabbings, shootings, disasters, famine, disease. All these stories are designed to fill people with fear and dread, to create a sense of powerlessness and a mindset of negativity. Fear is an experience that draws us out of the present. It wrenches the etheric body out of the physical body, takes us away from our intuitive knowing, our connection to the Oneness. It is much easier to control a frightened population than a happy one.
We are taught fear from an early age. Many people learn fear in their homes. A shocking and all-too-common child-rearing technique is to frighten children into good behavior by telling them lies about a boogie monster who will hurt them if they don't do what they are told. People mindlessly engage in this behavior as if it were acceptable, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. But scaring people robs them of their essence, thus interfering with their ability to connect to their inner wisdom and intuit Divine guidance. In addition, this behavior teaches children that lying is acceptable behavior. Dr. Myss' book, Anatomy of a Spirit, stresses over and over how lying is destructive of the energetic/etheric body, and thus destructive of the physical body.
What differentiates a live human from a dead one? Energy. In fact, that life energy exists as a body that appears to be an exact replica of the physical body, except that there is no matter associated with it. The etheric body can travel to other dimensions of reality while the physical body is in an altered consciousness state. Anything that happens to the etheric body will affect the physical body. Thus, if a bruise were inflicted upon the etheric body, an identical bruise will appear in the same place on the physical body. This is the mechanism voodoo practitioners use to inflict harm on people. It is also the way healers work to help people. Since the etheric body is not confined to a particular physical location, healers can work remotely.
Living stars and planets have etheric bodies just ad people do. Ideally, all humans consciously working together on the Earth's etheric body can heal the entire planet. If we unite, we can abolish pollution and restore natural habitats and ecosystems to attract extinct lifeforms back into our physical reality. This is the direction our thinking needs to be taking at this point in time, or all life will be destroyed on this planet.
This column has never shied away from controversy. In that spirit, I now feel compelled to reveal information that can be perceived as intensely dangerous and frightening. However, since the information is true it is important for people to understand it, even if it terrifies them. Terror can be a motivating force toward meaningful political and social change, so here goes.
Without getting into a heavy diatribe on arcane metaphysical subjects, suffice it to say that living beings need an etheric body to mediate between the physical body and the Soul. The etheric/mental body is the energetic glue that binds a Soul to a form. The Soul needs the incarnation cycle in physical form for spiritual growth, development and evolution. This system has worked just fine for the Earth's history.
However, we are now faced with an existential crisis of massive proportions. Nuclear technology is based on the use of plutonium. This element is named after the god/planet Pluto, lord of the underworld, master of death, rebirth and regeneration. Prior to the existence of nuclear technology, there was no possibility of real death on this planet. Death is a part of life, a part of the process of incarnation and spiritual growth. Jesus promised us eternal life because there was no such thing as death on this planet when he walked it in physical form.
However, nuclear technology poses dangers never before imagined. Plutonium is such a highly toxic substance that it has the capacity to destroy the Earth's etheric body. If the Earth's energy body ceases to exist, then the planet itself will die, along with all life that this living planet sustains.
Another technology that seriously jeopardizes life on this planet is the HAARP project. HAARP stands for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program. This project is allegedly to study the Earth's ionosphere "with particular emphasis on being able to understand and use it to enhance communications and surveillance systems for both civilian and defense purposes" according to the HAARP home page (http://www.haarp.alaska.edu/haarp). Several U.S. Government agencies are involved in this project, such as the National Telecommunications & Information Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Air Force, the Army Corps of Engineers, the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, among others.
HAARP is basically experimenting with the Earth's electromagnetic field in order to spy on the entire Earth's population. While the Government claims that HAARP is safe and that HAARP does not interfere with other users of the electromagnetic spectrum, we all have too much experience with Government lies to believe anything the Government tells us, especially where espionage is concerned. The truly scary thing about this research is the fact that the Government has constructed facilities that could seriously disrupt the Earth's electromagnetic field. Why is this important?
Because all life on this planet depends on magnetism. The reason there are trace metals in our blood is because metals conduct electromagnetic energy. Birds rely on the Earth's electromagnetic cues in order to migrate. Plants depend on these same cues to know when to bloom. Messing with the Earth's electromagnetic field can also damage and destroy the Earth's etheric body. Either way, human scientists are currently engaging in research and developing technologies that could make actual death a reality for beings on this planet. If the Earth's etheric body is destroyed, then the Earth's energy will be killed and she will no longer be able to sustain life.
We need to be conscious of how energy works and how new technologies are being employed to upset the delicate balance of planetary energy. And we need to be politically aware of how large organizations such as governments and multinational corporations are placing all planetary life in danger. Remain mindful, however, that the solution is NOT to give into fear, but have faith in our own ability to raise our own individual consciousness, and to mobilize others into similar action. Although it is difficult, we must remember to have compassion for the unconscious beings who are risking all our lives. Recall Jesus on the cross, imploring the Creator to forgive his tormentors for "they know not what they do."
