Greetings USED KARMA readers - and those of you who access this column through John Derrickson's PsyPlan(tm) site (http://www.psyplan.com)! This column reflects on the manner in which past predictions are manifesting in our reality. Pluto's Sagittarius-spiked influence is operating to reveal the truth, discrediting the powerful. Those of you who are regular readers (including those intrepid souls who have been reading the archives) are familiar with my prior predictions that social change will occur very rapidly at the end of the 20th century, and that the Internet would have profound implications for wresting the public consciousness away from the commercially-controlled mass market news media. Perhaps some of you thought I was being over-optimistic or extreme.
However, evidence of these changes abounds in current events. People Magazine was forced to acknowledge overwhelming public support for naming Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf as America's most beautiful person. Of course the vote had absolutely nothing to do with Hank's pulchritudinous merits - it was a Howard Stern guerrilla theater extravaganza signifying a backlash against the media's merchandising of popular culture. Go Howard!!!
As far as the media's news merchandising efforts are concerned, the networks are totally freaked by their rapidly diminishing market share. The fact that they couldn't see it coming is laughable. (The fact that they would have known about it if they read this column is even more laughable!) Cable television and the Internet are stealing their lunch, martinis and all. An enormous bout of alternative news sources have appeared, many of which carry no subscription fees in excess of cable and ISP charges.
Digital video technology continues to get cheaper and more widespread. Community networks continue to abound. People are starting to see the truth for themselves. People are continuing to organize as never before. For example, early in 1998 the United States government was itching for a fight in the Persian Gulf and lusting to deploy its noxious implements of destruction.1. The government backed down due to thousands of activists across the country participating in organized peaceful demonstrations. The mainstream media ignored some of these events and sent camera crews and reporters out to others, yet they never aired these videos. You may recall how the Government dog and pony show that took place last March in Ohio (a CNN exclusive) was completely derailed by angry demonstrators shouting "One! Two! Three! Four! We don't want your racist war!"
There was a deliberate attempt to block these activities out of the mainstream news media, and to minimize the organization behind the eruption during that fateful CNN fiasco. However, activists armed with digital video cameras provided documentary evidence of these humanitarian voices and posted them on the web. The Internet was a powerful force both in disseminating the censored information and in organizing activists. These efforts have been continuing in the form of unauthorized deliveries of medical supplies and other humanitarian aid to such places as Iraq and Cuba.
The mainstream media loves to purvey gross puffery about the health of the US economy. This leaves them with a dilemma, however, with respect to the statistics reflecting a sharp increase in child abuse in this country. If things are so swinging and everyone is so happy, then why are more parents abusing their children? The answer has to do with the true nature of sociopathology.
Most people think of sociopaths as people who hurt or take advantage of others without feelings or compassion. Serial killers and con artists are common examples. However, the truth is that the term "sociopathology" also extends to people who may not do physical harm to others, but in fact harming them metaphysically by not caring about them. All abusive personalities are narcissists, and all narcissists are sociopaths, whether they physically hurt people or not. Remember, mental and emotional abuse can be as damaging as physical injury.
The sad fact is that narcissists are people who cannot love themselves. If they could, they would have empathy and compassion for others. In order to harm someone, you must be completely without love, empathy and compassion for them. The vibrational energy of love, empathy and compassion is therefore wholly inconsistent with harm. People who harm their own children are hurting themselves twice, due to the vibrational bonds between parent and child.
The increase in child abuse means an increase in the number of narcissists who are raising children. The mainstream press is at a loss to explain the connection between a booming economy and rising rates of child abuse. The answer is simple. Sociopathic personality traits are actively selected for in the business world. The only people who can fire thousands of workers without feeling any sorrow or compassion for the people left jobless are narcissists. Since narcissists are the only people capable of abuse (because all sociopaths are narcissists), it is narcissists who are expanding the economy. However, narcissists come from all walks of life and all economic strata. The increase in child abuse stems from the prosperous narcissists using their newfound wealth to expand their families (whom they abuse due to their personality dysfunction), while the poor narcissists who lose their livelihoods due to the management narcissists are taking their frustrations out on their children.
Granted, this is an overly reductionist analysis, but if you think about it makes sense.
Let's review the signs of impending world peace. The Irish people voted three-to-one in favor of peace in a record 81% turnout. In Indonesia, President Suharto finally resigned after over three decades of a repressive dictatorship. (One man had been in jail for ten (10) years for telling a joke about Suharto!) Not only that, but current president Habibe has announced an end to nepotism in the Indonesian government. (Now if they can just recover the $14 billion looted from the Indonesian people by the prior regime!)
The people of Hong Kong voted overwhelmingly for pro-democracy candidates in another record turnout of 53%. The thing that made this election so interesting is that fact that the press had widely predicted a low turnout, expecting voter apathy. Not only was there a record turnout, but the vote took place during torrential rains. Of course, only 20 members of the 60-member Hong Kong legislature are democratically elected, but at least it's a start.
And isn't it interesting that the corporate-controlled media is stupid enough to believe that because they broadcast outright lies about voter apathy that people will believe those lies and act accordingly. Do you really think anyone in the press actually believed that people in Hong Kong don't care whether they govern themselves or are controlled by heartless fascists -- especially when they had been living democratically for the past 99 years.
Here in the domain of neo-fascist Mayor Rudy Guiliani unbelievable things are happening. Determined to destroy the lives of all poor and working class New Yorkers, our deranged mayor has now gone after the taxi cab drivers. New York cabbies have horrible working conditions. They pay outrageous amounts of money to own and or drive cabs in the horrors of New York City traffic. Most cabbies don't begin to make money until the ninth or tenth hour of their shift. This is why so many cabs drive dangerously - because they are hustling to make enough money to support their families. Now our dear mayor has joined with the corrupt Taxi and Limousine Commission to quadruple insurance rates for cabbies, subject them to random drug tests and other ridiculous and onerous idiocies.
Naturally the cabbies are upset about this. They planned a protest at City Hall in May, but they were stopped by New York City police at the mayor's order. The cabbies went to court to affirm their right to demonstrate and guess what! The court found that the First Amendment applies to cab drivers and the mayor has no right to prevent cab drivers or anyone else from exercising their free speech rights. New York City has a mayor - a former District Attorney, no less! -- who has absolutely no respect for the law or the Constitution.
As if that weren't enough, Mayor Mussolini now wants to close all of the City's community gardens! Many of New York's community gardens were empty or blighted lots that local residents reclaimed and turned into beautiful gardens that serve as community meeting places, as well as beautiful recreational spots. Since large real estate developers give huge "donations" (as if these contributions were actually gifts and not enormous quid pro quos) to his campaigns, Mayor Mussolini now wants to reclaim ALL of the City's community gardens for development.
Now why would a mayor who claims his goal is to improve the quality of life for New Yorkers want to destroy all the community gardens? Keep in mind that some of these gardens are 25 and 30 years old. The answer is that the mayor wants to improve the quality of life for rich people and destroy it completely for poor and working people. This is not really about real estate development, although paybacks to wealthy contributors is business as usual for corrupt politicians. The real reason for closing community gardens is disempowerment of the poor and the working class. The kinds of people that create community gardens are people who organize the community on other issues of concern to ordinary people. Since the mayor hates ordinary people and only likes wealthy people who contribute to his campaign, closing the community gardens not only throws a bone to his wealthy patrons, but it also strikes a blow at the people he hates anyway - the people who use the community gardens as a place to organize their communities and protect their rights.
Mayor Mussolini is so ambitious he would sell his grandmother to get elected to national office. In fact, he is currently divorcing his wife of many years, former newscaster Donna Hanover, because he has been sleeping with an aide of his who is 20 years his junior. A few years ago Donna walked into her husband's office in City Hall to find him doing the nasty on his desk with young Christine. Rudy viciously threatened the local press to assure media silence on this matter, and being such a nasty human being (with strong rumors of Mafia connections) the ordinarily intrepid New York press complied. However, with Pluto in Sagittarius the truth will continue to come out. We know that Americans are smart enough to recognize that a mayor who wants to shut down New York City's community gardens is not someone who belongs in higher office - or any office at all.
So go out and organize your own community to preserve human dignity and freedom!
