Everywhere I go, people are talking about President Clinton's personal and professional woes. To paraphrase the great sage Elvis Costello, I am thoroughly disgusted but I am trying to be amused. Dylan admirers know the Bard has words for every situation that has occurred and may occur, so here's my candidate for the perfect Dylan quote to sum up the entire Lewinsky operatic farce (or is that "operating force?"):

As usual, nothing is sacred. However, this month's edition may grate hard on sensitive ears, so consider yourselves cautioned.
I write this less than a week after President Clinton ordered terrorist Tomahawk missile attacks on facilities in Afghanistan and Sudan. A cynical world press has scoffed that such moves were intended to get Monica Lewinsky's name out of the headlines. The problem here is that the world press is not cynical enough.
Since all websites relating to Chelsea Clinton have been mysteriously censored from the Internet (could this be an unconstitutional misuse of presidential power by the man who so angrily demands his privacy?), it will be interesting to see if this article somehow disappears from its sponsors' sites. In any event, here is what I think is really going on, starting with the bombings of US embassies in Africa.
Let me back into this carefully. Did you notice the early news reports of Israeli investigators crawling all over the bomb sites, allegedly helping the FBI? Didn't that strike you as extremely strange? Have there ever been Israeli investigators at the site of any terrorist bombing affecting American property and/or personnel? I can't think of any either. So let's consider the facts. Bill Clinton has proven time and time again that he is a completely amoral human being.3. It is time to reveal this man for who he is. What I am about to set forth here is truly sickening, but it is the most logical explanation and is also what I feel in my heart to be true. Here goes (you may want to hold your nose before reading this.)
The Israelis have done all kinds of nasty underhanded things, especially under the so-called leadership of Benjamin Netanyahu. This man is a amoral fascist. He does not even pretend to have respect for the democratic process. The Mossad, the Israeli secret police, is even more dangerous, amoral and pervasive than the CIA. Naturally he and Bill Clinton get along just fine. I think the Israelis, as they have done so many times in the past4., offered to "help" their friend Bill Clinton by agreeing to bomb two American embassies in Africa and then frame middle Eastern terrorists for the action. The Israeli investigators were there to make sure the truth was fully covered up, removing all evidence of Israeli complicity and planting evidence of Muslim perpetration. Bill Clinton agreed to collude with them, lying to further their twisted scheme and solve his own publicity problems.
Now here's something else to consider. Two suspects in custody confessed right away that: (1) they were responsible for the bombings; and (2) they were hired by Osama bin Laden, a rich Saudi who has declared war on the United States and whom the US had been looking to pin the blame on for the still unsolved bombing of an American military base in Saudi Arabia. (A sealed indictment was conveniently waiting for him just a few weeks after the bombings.) Doesn't this smell like a setup? Osama bin Laden, ladies and gentlemen, is a committed ideologue. Do you honestly think he would hire people who would incriminate him right away if they were caught? Does that make any sense to you? The whole thing smells like a set-up.
And how about the United States' terrorist acts of bombing two countries using nearly $80 million worth of firepower? The privately-owned pharmaceutical plant in Sudan that was completely destroyed by American Tomahawk missiles supplied fifty percent (50%) of that country's human and veterinary medicines - antibiotics, no less! In case you haven't heard about it due to American news blackouts on the subject, a majority of Sudan's population is starving due to politically manipulated famines in that nation's civil war. So think of the impact the loss of half the nation's medical and veterinary pharmaceuticals will have upon an already desperate and suffering people.
The US continues to insist it has physical evidence that chemical weapons were being produced in that plant, yet it refuses to share the alleged evidence with the world community. They also claim that Osama bin Laden was an investor in the destroyed plant, which is wholly untrue. The pharmaceutical plant was owned by a family that grieves the loss of their friends and employees. All the dead were personally known to them. How in the world does this sort of behavior contribute to the reduction of terrorism? If anything, it encourages more terrorism, more hatred and more rage. Nice going, Billy Boy.
Did the United States and Israel really think they could collude to support each others' lies and the world would believe them? Does the US think it can commit unilateral acts of terrorism against known civilian targets and justify it on evidence it refuses to produce? Would any US court put up with that kind of nonsense?
A recent edition of AGITPROP_NEWS, which calls itself a "digest of political news for artists and activists" (AGITPROP_NEWS@EMAIL.RUTGERS.EDU), entitled "Special: Who's the Terrorist Issue" contained the following fascinating tidbit:

No Double Standards Here JERUSALEM, Aug 19 (AFP) - Four people have been killed and 25 injured in a series of unreported accidents at a top secret laboratory near Tel Aviv that reportedly houses Israel's biological and chemical weapons programs, the Maariv newspaper reported Wednesday. In one of the incidents at the Biological Institute in Nes Ziona, security forces were on the verge of evacuating the town's 25,000 residents but refrained after the center's scientists said the danger had passed, the Maariv said. The newspaper, citing a report to be published Thursday in the London-based newsletter Foreign Report, said four fatal accidents had occurred at the institute "in recent years" without providing dates. The activities of the Nes Ziona laboratory are top secret and covered by Israel's military censorship regulations, although foreign press reports say the institute is the center for Israel's chemical and biological weapons program. The newsletter said the Nes Ziona complex includes so-called P3 laboratories dealing in highly lethal poisons. Israeli regularly warns of the dangers posed by the development of chemical and biological weapons in Syria, Iraq and Iran, but has never acknowledged running similar programs.
Do you recall about a week or two after the embassy bombings there was a news story released by the Israeli press that rang around the world - Israel told the United States to ignore any warnings about bombing embassies in Africa. Now why in the world would they do that?
So here is the punch line. Israel is fiercely committed to development of its own chemical and biological weapons program, and is just as fiercely committed to destroying its enemies' chemical and biological weapons programs. So Israel tells the US to ignore warnings about embassy bombings just a week before Israel goes in and bombs those embassies themselves. Then they volunteer to come in and "help" the FBI collect evidence. Then they get their friends the United States to destroy their enemies based on false or nonexistent intelligence that the US insists is irrefutable but refuses to produce.
This plan is so twisted it is clearly a frighteningly plausible candidate for the truth. No matter how I analyze it, and no matter how many times I meditate on it, this is what feels true. Let me know what you think and feel!
