Greetings USED KARMA readers - and those of you who access this column through John Derrickson's PsyPlan(tm) site (www.psyplan.com)! Although the calendar year 1998 is not yet over, time has speeded up so much lately that it feels as if 1998 is already over. Therefore I will offer some speculations on what's coming next.
You know, it was a lot easier to keep my commitment to this column when I didn't have a day job. The month of December 1998 has been one of work obligations and deadlines, along with many fun commitments (such as songwriter's circles, art openings, friends' gigs, my own gigs, holiday parties and general all around socializing with whatever time there is left). If it seems as if time is speeding up lately, that's because it is. Our solar system continues its journey through the photon belt, opening energies and shifting priorities. This influence is magnifying Pluto's journey through Sagittarius. Truths that have been buried are coming back to haunt the guilty.
In 1995 a CIA scientist making a routine visit to Hughes Aircraft in California was very disturbed to learn that said company may have sold technology to China that would aid in China's military build-up. He duly reported this information to the CIA. Was he rewarded for his vigilance and diligence in performing his job? Quite the contrary - the CIA nastily told him they didn't want to hear about it. Why? Because Vice President Al Gore (the man who believes himself to be President-in-waiting) was busy sucking up to the Chinese on trade and business issues in order to benefit Democratic party campaign contributors, both Chinese and American, who stood to benefit from such collusion.
Of course, that was before Mr. Gore's unsavory fundraising deals with Asians were spilled all over the mainstream media. Although Wooden Al has survived Janet Reno's scrutiny through her declining to appoint a special prosecutor to look into Al's White House fundraising misadventures, that seems due more to her knowing which side her bread is buttered on than any lack of actual guilty on Tennessee Al's part.
But Pluto in Sagittarius means the truth will come out, and come out it has. Now in 1998 the CIA is taking another look at its own scientist's allegations of wrongdoing by Hughes in its sale of military technology to the Chinese, and there are ongoing criminal investigations and indictments galore. Look for this story to escalate more in the media as the public grows increasingly bored with the impeachment two-step the President continues to dance with Congress.
As regular readers of this column already know, some planetary retrogrades are worse than others. Since we all get to experience Mercury in retrograde about three times a year, this is a subject about which we all have the potential to become experts. Some cycles are difficult, while others are fairly smooth. This particular Mercury retrograde, the one that will end on December 12, 1998, has been a bear. Part of the reason is that fact that Saturn is also retrograde, which does not help life to run smoothly. Machinery of all kinds has been affected. This cycle killed both the speakers and the disk drive on my computer. However, I'm performing an experiment to see if they magically reincarnate after Mercury has been direct for a few weeks.
For those of you who are laughing, it may interest you to know that in past cycles I have had all kinds of telephone and computer problems that seemed insurmountable, yet disappeared as quickly as they had arisen once Mercury was direct. Of course, it has never been anything as substantial as speakers and a disk drive, but with Internet technology my need for floppy disks has been obviated. I did have occasion recently to copy something to a disk as a favor to a neighbor (which is how I discovered the drive was comatose). However, I simply e-mailed the files to another neighbor who copied them onto a disk for the first neighbor. Isn't friendship wonderful?
The point is that retrograde planets may slow you down, but there is always a way to muddle through if you're clever, persistent and creative. Which brings me to our next topic.
On Monday, December 7th the New York Times printed some gossip that Time Magazine was considering Hillary Clinton for Person of the Year. Using her occult talents from the dark side of the force, the First Lady has managed to get her mug on the cover of Vogue and inside People and various other useless but highly profitable bastions of the major media publishing empire. She certainly deserves an award for public relations and media manipulation, but we haven't seen any of those (at least not well-publicized.) Naturally at this point you are wondering about my choice for Person of the Year. Here we go.
If you have been following this column recently, you may already have guessed it. My current hero is Baltasar Garzon, the Spanish judge seeking extradition of former Chilean dictator Auguste Pinochet for crimes against humanity.
Those of you old enough to remember watching the Viet Nam war on television will remember the nightly body count broadcasts. Every night we would hear about how our boys killed hundreds of Viet Cong, while they killed only a few dozen of our soldiers. Of course, after months and months of this it started to become clear that this information couldn't be true, or else we would have won the war. In fact, we were getting the pants beaten off us, but the U.S. Government continued to keep us in fairyland about the whole thing.
History demonstrated that former President Lyndon Johnson, the person directly responsible for the bogus body counts, was a paranoid schizophrenic. He deluded himself and he deluded the American people. Well, the recent reports about our glowing economy and how we shouldn't worry about all the layoffs because they are more than offset by all the new jobs being created has the same ring of unreality to it.
Consider this statistic. If the economy is doing so well, why are bankruptcies at an all-time high? That's right, the November 1998 bankruptcy filings broke all previous U.S. records. Each day I read in the New York Times (a notorious bastion of lies, deceit, Government disinformation and outright fantasy) of huge American, foreign and international companies laying off thousands of workers. The mega-merger trend continues unabated, with the recent Exxon-Mobil marriage (re-uniting two oil companies that were divorced during the trust-busting at the turn of the century) likely to lead to the loss of 20,000 jobs.
Whenever you hear or read a news item, be sure to listen to your own intuition to know whether it is true. We all have a direct connection to the Divine Source, and this spirit will speak to us if we listen. Just ask the cells in your bloodstream to tell you is what you are receiving is truth, and you will get an answer.
Be sure to do the same with this column, and if you agree with me or if I'm totally off the wall with my rantings and ravings.
Naturally I was amused to awaken on the morning of December 7 to hear a news item that Russian President Boris Yeltsin had left his hospital room for three hours to go to the Kremlin to fire four close advisors. Then he resumed his treatment for pneumonia.
The reason for my amusement is a prediction I made last year that did not manifest then, but appears to be manifesting now. Last year I said that Yeltsin would die of natural causes before the end of the year, which he did not. I also said that he would fire many people in his government and die without leaving a clear succession plan. This may well happen, so watch out for it.
I also said (and still believe) that when this happens the result of the disarray the Russian government will be left in will be that the Russian people will organize as no one has ever seen people organize on this planet, and that they will reshape their own government and take charge of their own lives. Remember, these are the people who organized labor protests of hundreds of thousands of people in different cities around their country last year. When Russia goes, China will follow. People will organize and cooperate on this planet as never before, and will force their leaders to do what is right for the people, not what serves the greed and sickness of the ruling classes.
For more on these subjects, I recommend you all read Barbara Marciniak's excellent new book Family of Light. Love and peace and blessings to you all!
