Genocidal Christmas
Introduction
Greetings USED KARMA readers - and those of you who access this column through John Derrickson's PsyPlan(tm) site (www.psyplan.com)! Regular readers know how bummed out I am by the bombing in Iraq. However, I am encouraged by my good friend Wendy Flynn's observation that from October 1998 through the end of 1999 is a time for cleansing all deception in preparation for the new millennial cycle.
New York Protest Against Bombing Iraq
On Saturday, December 19 I attended a demonstration in New York City protesting the U.S. and British attack on Iraq. Protesting is shamanic - demonstrators repeat various chants to impress their message upon human consciousness. This demonstration used some chants from previous similar demonstrations. My favorite from this crop is "One, two, three, four! We don't want your racist war!." Given the fact that the bombings occurred just prior to the Christmas holiday, I composed a chant specially for the December 19th demonstration. My apologies for not having audio so you can hear it, but you can read the words:
It's a genocidal Christmas
There's no truth, there's no peace.
Where's the gentle soul of Christmas
While the bombs are being released?
(I later made this chant the chorus of a song.)
The demonstration began at 7th Avenue and 34th Street. When the crowd grew too large to allow walking on the sidewalk, we proceeded to down 7th Avenue to 16th, where we turned east and proceeded to rally at Union Square. Popular chants included the following:
"One, two, three, four! We don't want your racist war. Five, six, seven, eight! We will not cooperate." "Clinton, Albright, you can't hide! We charge you with genocide!" "USA, CIA, how many kids have you killed today?" "Stop the bombing, stop the war! Let Iraq live!"
My friend Saad, an Iraqi native, spoke at the rally about a conversation he had with his brother and his brother's family in Baghdad just hours before the demonstration. While the mainstream media initially reported 25 people killed, the truth is that hundreds of Iraqi civilians had been killed and injured. At the December 20th cessation of the air strikes, the tally of Iraqis killed and injured was in the thousands. The mainstream media reported destruction of military installations. The truth is there ARE no military installations in Baghdad. By December 19, U.S. and British missiles had destroyed two hospitals, the hall of science at the University (where, due to UN sanctions, there are no computers and very little in the way of laboratory furnishings) and the Baghdad Museum. The Museum contained priceless objects spanning 5,000 years of Iraqi history. Now it is all gone, irreparably destroyed due to Bill Clinton's terroristic barbarism.
The truth is that Iraqi men, women and children were incinerated in their beds while sleeping. The truth is that it is barbaric to bomb people right before their holiest and most important holiday. The truth is that, though harboring dangerous weapons, Iraq is not a threat to its neighbors, nor is it a threat to the United States. In fact, several of Iraq's neighbors opposed the bombing. Over a thousand Iranians marched in that country's streets to protest the bombings. (Considering the fact these two countries were enemies less than a generation ago, this is a profound reality to digest.) Syrian demonstrated damaged the U.S. Embassy in Damascus.
The fact that worldwide demonstrations against the American/British action were not covered in the mainstream press is hardly surprising. However, it is interesting to note that National Public Radio did mention both New York December protests the day after they occurred, so some workers there are making some small inroads against Government and commercial censorship. I mention this, because I do not recall hearing NPR stories on the three other demonstrations I attended earlier this year in New York City organized around preventing military action against Iraq. (Perhaps some were aired, but I do not recall hearing them.)
One interesting thing about the Union Square rally at the end of the December 19 demonstration deserves mention. An announcement was made that the police had started making some arrests. Organizers called for a continuation of the "discipline" that had marked the event until that point. The National Public Radio story said it was reported that several people had been taken into police custody, but that the police were not making an announcement regarding arrests. Perhaps the police are still recovering from the Matthew Shepard vigil where mounted police rode their horses into the crowd, and dozens of peaceful people were injured and/or arrested.
Granted, there were over a thousand people at the demonstration (the NPR story said "hundreds") so it was not possible to see what was happening at the periphery while being in the middle. However, I did not see anyone anywhere at the demonstration who was behaving in a manner that would invite police attention. It is entirely possible the folks causing the disturbance were undercover police operatives there to discredit the demonstrators' peaceful intent. It is not going to work. Nothing is more frightening to the Government than hundreds of people peacefully assembled to express their opinion on a matter of pressing social importance. That's why nothing is going to stop us.
As a final observation on the demonstration, I would like to mention the presence of two young friends, Roger Kuhn and Roger's friend Alexis. Both of them are in their early 20s and had never been to a demonstration of any kind. However, both feel passionately that our Government's current military action in Iraq is wrong. They were amazed by the power and energy of the group. Since the three of us arrived early, we were able to watch the crowd grow during the course of the afternoon. Several people on the streets stopped and people in offices and apartments looked out their windows to watch us march by. Some people cheered us on, some people looked with disdain or made obscene gestures, but the majority simply gazed in wonder. Roger called me to thank me for informing him about the demonstration and to tell me that attending it had changed his life.
The point is that we as individuals, coming together in like-minded groups, have the potential to change our Government's actions to suit the interests of all of society, not just a perverted few. (I consider it a grand perversion to have large amounts of capital and yet do virtually nothing with it to better the lives of millions of people.) It doesn't matter whether the mainstream media covers global protests - they are going to continue until they are too big to ignore. Get ready for the party!
Science Learns More of What Metaphysics Already Knew
A recent Reuters news story (3:00 a.m. 18.Dec.98.PST from Washington) said that astronomers had observed the oldest (and thus farthest) supernova yet observed. As many of you know, a supernova is star that is dying of explosion. Since astronomers measure distance using the speed of light, they can tell how long ago an event happened by noting how far away it is. The reason this is a big deal is because somehow modern science has gotten the notion (perhaps due to the limitations of third-dimensional human consciousness) that, although the Universe is expanding, that eventually this process would have to end and the Universe would fold in on itself and collapse.
This notion is positively laughable to anyone with a firm graph of metaphysically- molded cosmologies. However, the dogma that rules modern science has held this theory in favor for much of the 20th century. Now, faced with new evidence, scientists are finally coming to grips with the reality that the Universe keeps expanding and expanding infinitum - there simply is no end. This is a reassuring concept to mystics, but quite frightening to science-minded bigots who feel they must compress all knowledge and understanding into a finite system comparable to their own finite human existence. Guess what, guys - the Universe does not operate according to your narrow prejudices and preconceptions. (Isn't THAT a relief???)
Consider the implications of this. If science is ready and willing to accept the mathematical notion of infinity as a cosmology, then science will be ready and willing to apply that cosmology to all other sciences, since all the rest of the sciences are operating in the cosmos. This will open their minds enough so they will actual notice a scientific basis for telepathy, precognition and energy healing. They will actually consider such artifacts as a five-million year old human shoe print (such things have indeed been found), metal implants removed from human beings that consist of no known earth metal, and other recovered extraterrestrial materials of sentient manufacture. They will accept the reality and long-time existence of time travel. In short, they will stop discarding evidence that doesn't fit their world view and expand their viewpoint enough to live in reality.
Once that happens, the current fast pace of technological change and development will go into warp speed. Technological development will collapse old technology empires and create new ones overnight. For example, recent patents involving light computers will improve bandwidth by a factor of 1,000 over the fastest current technology. As I have observed before, the old rulers of the telecommunications industry who have spent billions laying cables under the ocean and launching satellites will suddenly be faced with very cheap competition for their services. Given the enormous infrastructure investments they have made, there is no way they will be able to lower their rates enough to compete with the optical players that will be entering the market in droves over the next few years with new patents and new technologies.
At least the scientific community will be ready for them by being willing to believe it.
