More Mass Awakenings to Truth

     Introduction

Greetings USED KARMA readers - and those of you who access this column through John Derrickson's PsyPlan(tm) site (www.psyplan.com)! As I write this in early October it is a beautiful warm sunny day in New York City. The Moon is new in Libra and Jupiter is squaring Uranus. New Moon in Libra is a quiet time for focusing on balance and beauty. Jupiter square Uranus challenges us to be more tolerant of other, especially those with slower intellectual capacities. Natives born under this influence have keen, quick minds and a tremendous openness to new ideas. Of course, Uranus creates a certain tension, as does the square aspect. However, Jupiter uplifts the spirit and provides the opportunity for us to take advantage of the square's tension for spiritual direction of Uranus' electrical energy. Add this to the calming energies of the new Moon, and it affords a rare environment for creativity in meditation.

     More Global Power Shifts

The powers that control this planet always assume that this world's people are stupid and can be easily controlled and manipulated. The reason they think this is because this has been historically true for millennia. However, this situation is rapidly changing, and the existing power structure will not realize it in time to be able to counteract it. This column has examined these power shifts throughout the past few years. The recent decision by an British court to extradite the genocidal maniac and former Chilean dictator Auguste Pinochet to Spain to stand trial for the crimes of conspiracy to torture and torturing 34 Spanish nationals was a real affront to the existing power structure, which had always protected former dictators and believed them to be immune from prosecution for crimes committed while in power.

Meanwhile, Italy is currently seeking extradition of the former head of the Chilean secret police, retired General Manuel Contreras, on murder charges. It is alleged that Contreras ordered the assassination of Chile's former Vice President, Bernardo Leighton, and his wife back in 1975. Although the assassination attempt did not succeed, it is interesting that the Italian government is seeking retribution 24 years later. The Italian courts have jurisdiction because the Leightons were living as exiles in Rome at the time. It is interesting to note that former General Contreras is currently serving a seven-year sentence in Chile for complicity in the murder of former Chilean Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier and his American assistant in Washington, D.C.

Even more fascinating is the result of the October elections in southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The Congress party (headed by Sonia Gandhi, widow of the late Rajiv Gandhi who was assassinated by a suicide bomber in 1991) candidate appealed to local farmers with outrageous promises of free electricity. (Vote for us and you'll never had electricity bills again!) This was countered by the regional Telugu Desmam party head and state Chief Minister, candidate Chandrababu Naidu, who told the voters: "It cannot be done. Don't believe their words." Surprisingly enough, Mr. Naidu's party obtained a landslide victory, garnering a majority in the state house and 29 seats in the lower house of the national Parliament. Mr. Naidu won a seat in the state assembly, while his party became the second largest ally in the new Hindu-nationalist coalition that is set to govern India. Policy analysts were stunned to see that a man who told the truth (there is no such thing as a free lunch) prevailed over a party that made outrageous promises to voters.

     And Local Power Shifts

Watch for similar phenomena in next year's U.S. national elections. It is very interesting to note that in October 68 house Republicans bucked their party's leadership and voted in favor of a patients' bill of rights granting U.S. citizens the right to sue their HMOs. There is a dawning realization among Republicans that they have got to pass some legislation that helps ordinary people or they will be voted out of office next year. The Republican-controlled Congress has done nothing but grandstand during its time in office. They have either passed meaningless legislation or laws that are so horrible for the average American that even a person as conservative as President Clinton has been forced to veto them.

No wonder Americans are totally disenchanted by the electoral process! George W. Bush, the leading Republican front-runner, has raised $60 million from less than three percent of the people. And of course all those fat-cat contributors are going to expect special favors in return for their contributions. With so little public money going into the campaign process, no wonder so much of the populace is too disenchanted to vote.

However, the marks of shifting global consciousness are already all over the U.S. presidential race, even a year in advance of the election. Vice President Al Gore, who fancied himself "president-in-waiting" (I wish I could remember which magazine I stole that line from), was so confident of walking right into the presidency that he didn't anticipate any sort of fight for the Democratic nomination. Former Senator Bill Bradley is now emerging as a serious threat to Gore's candidacy, with poll numbers not only exceeding Gore's, but increasing daily.

George W. Bush is poised to make a similar mistake. Because of his vast campaign chest, he also is acting as if no Republican party nomination process exists and he can just waltz right into the Presidency in 2001. This is evidenced by his blatant alienation of his own party through stinging criticism of traditional Republican party religion (screw the poor and the middle class and pamper the rich) and his pathetic attempts to reach moderate and liberal voters by talking about such traditional Democratic stronghold positions as education and aid to the poor. The amusing thing is that he thinks he's fooling people! All he's doing is alienating the sociopathic – excuse me, far-right conservative – wing of his party, while failing to fool any genuine moderates and liberals.

Let me add an interesting personal anecdote here. In November of 1993 I had dinner in Moscow, Russia with Grace Kennan Warnicke (daughter of former Soviet Ambassador and America's premier sovietologist George Kennan) and Ruth Hunter, a paid political consultant on Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign. I casually announced that I foresaw Bill Bradley being president of the United States in the year 2000. Grace and Ruth nearly dropped their forks. Ruth suggested that perhaps Hillary Clinton would be president in 2000 if she succeeded in the health care initiative she was then at work on. I replied that this was an interesting hypothesis, but that Hillary Clinton would not succeed and that Bradley was going to prevail. (In fact, not only did Hillary Clinton offend many people with her illegal secretive closed-door meetings, but the final product looked suspiciously like existing major medical health care realities.) Mentioning a Bill Bradley year 2000 presidency seemed absurd to most folks at the time, but many of the people who thought I was crazy for saying such things years ago are no longer laughing.

Rudy Guiliani Shoots Himself in the Foot – Again!

Here in New York our Mayor, the Honorless Adolf – excuse me, Rudolph – Guiliani has once again proved to New Yorkers and the world that there are no depths to which he will not stoop for political purposes. The controversy surrounding the third-rate Saatchi-sponsored art exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum entitled "Sensation" is one more example of Guiliani's blatant political pandering blowing up in his face. The Mayor wrongfully condemned the exhibit as "Catholic bashing" and an insult to his religion, illegally cut of $7 million in funding to the Museum, and threatened to do the same to any other New York City cultural institutions whose leaders spoke out in favor of the Brooklyn Museum exhibit.

It turns out that the Mayor was informed of the exhibit four – count 'em, four – months before the exhibit opened and he raised no objection. It seems the real reason he decided to make a fuss was to get the important news stories of the day – the alleged encephalitis outbreak and the City's spraying of poison gas such as Malathion – out of the headlines. So far six people have died of an illness that had been variously described in the New York media as St. Louis encephalitis, West Nile encephalitis, West Nile-like encephalitis and West Nile-like virus. Several birds in the New York area have also died of the disease, which is believed to be transmitted by insects.

Our evil mayor began spraying Malathion – a nerve gas created by the Nazis – with no public hearings and with little public warning. Although the spraying times were posted on the City's website, the times were often incorrect. This resulted in thousands of New Yorkers getting sprayed with toxic gas while walking their dogs and playing with their children. Also, the spraying went on during the Jewish holiday of Succoth, where Orthodox Jews take their meals outside for several days. To add insult to injury, Guiliani publicly announced that Malathion was safe, and that the only way to be injured by it was to drink it. This blatant lie caused New York State Attorney General Elliott Spitzer to call the Mayor's office and demand that the Mayor stop announcing that Malathion is safe, because there are federal EPA regulations specifically preventing anyone from saying Malathion is safe because it isn't – it is in fact a highly toxic substance.

It is evident from the coverage of the disease, whatever it is, that there is a major disinformation campaign underway. We were told that a scientist at the Bronx Zoo was a hero for correctly identifying the plague as West Nile encephalitis after it had been incorrectly identified as St. Louis encephalitis, a far more deadly pathogen. West Nile encephalitis has never before been found in North America. The first sign of an outbreak was the mysterious deaths of several crows in the Bronx – right near the zoo! This suggests that a more likely scenario is that the disease originated in or near the zoo. Then it became public that the Rockefeller Institute (yes, the same Rockefeller family that financed the Nazis during World War II and has continued their research into eugenics ever since) has been experimenting with West Nile encephalitis for years. So if the Rockefeller Institute has so much experience with this bug, why aren't they saying anything?

The truly frightening thing is that the City is now requesting that residents of the borough of Queens voluntarily give blood samples to the Health Department, allegedly to determine that the encephalitis is not present. Since one of the prime symptoms of the disease is a very high fever, it is obvious who is carrying the bug and who isn't. One can't help but suspect that Rudy Guiliani, who has ties to the Rockefeller Institute and their sick work in eugenics, is involving unwitting citizens in a sordid government medical experiment without proper consent or a truthful explanation of what is really going on.

Meanwhile, New York's City Hall Park recently re-opened after ten months and $29 million worth of renovations. We in the activist community believe the renovations were undertaken to prevent demonstrators on the steps of City Hall. When I saw the newly renovated park I wanted to vomit. There are fancy fountains reminiscent of Versailles, expensive street lamps and fancy plantings in a park that was fairly nice to begin with. Spending $29 million on a park in a city where the majority of public school students do not have textbooks is all too reminiscent of Marie Antoinette continuing to build elaborate palaces while the French people starved.

The good news is that more and more ordinary New Yorkers are questioning the Mayor's truthfulness and his motives. The even better news is that local television reporters having been calling me and other local activists to get alternative viewpoints on the Mayor's exploits in art and public health. Pluto is in Sagittarius and the truth will prevail!!!
