What's in Store for the Rest of 1997

Introduction

Greetings USED KARMA readers!  Traditionally astrologers and psychics deliver their new year's predictions at the beginning of the new year, so I should have done this last month.  I was going to skip the 1997 prediction game altogether, until I received an e-mail from my good friend Steve Dixon (guitar player for the oh-so-hip band Reversing Hour).  I decided to faithfully reproduce his request for my 1997 predictions and my response, and then add some additional commentary.  Breathe deeply - things are going to get weirder and faster at the same time.

UFOs Go Prime Time, The Insurance Industry Collapses and The Establishment Takes A Bath

STEVE'S E-MAIL:

>Speaking of '97, what are your thoughts on this year?  Last year you said

>that '96 would be the year that the truth would come out, and while it came

>out in some strange ways, you we're [sic] completely right.  What's coming this

>year?  I'm curious to hear what you think.

MARCY'S RESPONSE:

The truth will continue to come out, as Pluto will remain in Sagittarius

for several years to come.  Yes, some interesting truth did emerge in 1996,

didn't it?

I predict that 1997 will bring powerful shifts in consciousness.  As more

truth emerges, more and more people will join together to fight the

monopolistic power structure (the small portion of this planet's

inhabitants that controls the vast amount of its wealth -- and those

bastards aren't sharing!)

In addition, 1997 is the year world governments will start to come clean

with the information they have been hiding about visitations of this planet

by several groups of extraterrestrials.  Notice the tremendous increase in

shows about UFOs on several channels in the past few years, and especially

in 1996.  More evidence of truth leaking out.

People will band together in their communities to create economic

independence from the state, and there will be nothing anybody can do to

stop them.  The cataclysms (as evidenced by the floods in Northern

California and Northern Washington) are increasing.  The insurance industry

is already in the toilet.  This year's cataclysms will wake Wall Street up

to the possibility that the insurance industry will in fact collapse, and

that will take the banking industry with it.

When that happens everyone will be bankrupt except for those folks in

places like Ithaca who were using local currencies.  1997 will be the year

that such locally-created currencies (you receive the local currency in 1/2

hour increments of providing services in your community and you spend them

at the places in the community that take them in exchange for goods -- or

more services!) will be accepted on the Internet, and thus will, in effect,

be guerrilla transnational currencies.

So when the banking industry collapses it will be the hippies on the

Internet who will be solvent, and will help others adopt their socialistic

model so that they will be solvent, too.

What a way to run a revolution.

Anyway, all of this will happen by the year 2000, but 1997 will see the

creation of a viable digital cash infrastructure that will spawn the

alternative currencies.

This is going to be really, REALLY fun!

Commentary

Let's examine this situation in greater detail.  Pluto is in Sagittarius, showing all of us the truth.  Secrets that have been held tightly for thousands of years are starting to be accessible and comprehensible to ordinary people.  Many people are reporting a feeling of lightness as they practice meditation and experience respect for their own feelings.  This empowers them to take responsibility as individuals, banding together in like-minded groups.  The group experiences the power of mass consciousness - a synergy where the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts.  As the more truth is revealed, people gather together in larger and larger groups, creating more and more power to change society with.

The power of mass consciousness was demonstrated in the sixties through huge marches on Washington for civil rights and peace in Viet Nam.  Every time Americans have banded together peacefully for social justice (which has occurred several names in our history, though most of us were not taught that in school) this activity has scared the establishment more than any violence or brutality.  (For a fascinatingly complete history of these activities, read Boston University Professor Howard Zinn's book A People's History of the United States.)  Of course, the establishment has typically used brutal force on peaceful demonstrators (police, the military, private detectives, criminal thugs) and then thrown them enough crumbs to quiet their voices.

On example of this is in the history of the anti-trust laws.  Enacted around the turn of the century, this legislation was designed not to protect the people, but to screw them  by allowing the large greedy economic and emotional rapists controlling corporate wealth to retain that control.  Teddy Roosevelt was not only in on this conspiracy, he was the person who convinced the J.P. Morgans of this country to that it was in their best interest to support the anti-trust laws.  Otherwise, the people would have kept protesting until the railroads were socialized.  If that had happened, wealth would have been shared more equally among the workers, instead of being routinely looted by the heartless, greedy fools in management.

The history of this country is that of the rich exploiting the poor in order to get richer and richer.  This is why most people cannot become rich, despite some rare exceptions to the Horatio Alger myth.  In order to be wealthy, you have to either have money to begin with, or you have to be connected to people who have money.  Most people who have money don't want anything to do with people who don't.  Thus the rich protect their own interests and screw everyone else to get richer.  Due to the inseparable connection between money and politics, rich people have always influenced this country's legal system.  The legal history of the United States can be summed up by saying private property is the most important thing our system holds dear and our courts will do anything to protect it, even at the expense of the community and the public good.  U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has said repeatedly that he is not concerned with fairness, he is only concerned with the Constitution.  If this is what our leaders think, then it is time for we the people show them otherwise.

This will begin happening in the next few years as people suddenly understand the true history of the United States of America.  In doing so, they will realize the power of mass consciousness to change the social welfare of millions of people.  Examples of this kind of activity started appearing in 1996.  Nurses organized and struck to deplore the effects of managed care on patients.  At the end of 1996, psychotherapists started organizing to protest the disastrous effects of managed care on the mentally ill.  When one doctor asked his HMO's management why they were targeting the mentally ill, the reply was “because they're vulnerable.”  If every doctor, nurse and therapist in every HMO banded together and refused to provide services to the HMOs, the HMOs would crumble overnight.

This is not a mere fantasy.  There are many alternatives to a strictly cash economy.  People who cannot afford medical care can barter services with their medical personnel.  For example, what caring parent would not clean a doctor's office or mow a doctor's lawn to get medical care for a needy child?  People will suddenly the realize the power of banding together to help each other, and they will do this to the exclusion of the mainstream economy.

The best way to assure these results is through freedom of speech and freedom of information.  Consider the massive organizing against the Computer Decency Act enacted by Congress to censor and control public speech.  The left is using the Internet to educate and organize, as the right has been doing for years.  Only now the left can afford it, because the Internet is still fairly cheap in this country.  Many coalitions were formed last year between libraries, a variety of computer, information and multimedia companies, the free speech crowd and the leftist telecommunications policy wonks to be sure it stays that way.  This is the only way we can assure that the truth will be freely available.

Speaking of freely available truth, this is the year that several world governments will spill the beans about visitation of this planet by extraterrestrials, and about the millions of humans who have been repeatedly abducted worldwide as test subjects in macabre ET biological and psychic experiments.  These abductions have been carried out with the agreement and cooperation of most world governments.  Why?  Because the United States forced them into it, usually through military coup or economic or other blackmail.

Therefor the United States will hardly be a leader in this area, but at some point  they will be shamed into 'fessing up when the time comes.  I do not get a clear read on exactly which country will be first, but it feels as of there will be a few small countries in Africa and possibly Asia that will open their files and demand that the world's major powers do the same.

This feeling is reinforced by the dramatic rise in televisions documentaries about UFOs, extraterrestrials and the paranormal.  The interesting thing is that such works are not limited to the Science Fiction Channel anymore.  There have been major network productions as well as cable shows on such channels as USA, the Family Channel, the Learning Channel, Discovery, Arts and Entertainment, public access, public television and many more.  Here in New York, hardly a day has passed in the last few weeks without a television show or some part thereof devoted to some aspect of the UFO phenomenon.

There has also been an increase in documentaries about U.S. Government and conspiracies, cover-ups and secret biological experiments on unsuspecting personnel military and espionage personnel.  This is in line with the general trend toward more and more hidden truth emerging into its rightful place in public consciousness.  When this happens, people will suddenly understand how the financial power structure has been abusing us all for years.  The beauty of mass consciousness is that people will realize they can band together on a local, community level and reach out over the Internet to form commercial relationships with other committed communities so they can all escape economic dependence on the existing power structure.

As I said to my friend Steve, this is going to be really, REALLY fun!
