Trends in Evolving Consciousness
Introduction
Greetings USED KARMA readers! Have you noticed that time seems to be speeding up? It seems this way because it IS this way. As anyone who has made a serious study of quantum physics knows, the idea of linear time (going uni-directionally from past to future in a straight line) is a human delusion. In reality (out there in space and other available dimensions) space and time are connected. This space-time material is affected by gravity. The more powerful the gravitational force pulling on the fabric of the space-time continuum, the more densely curved space-time is in that locale. Due to the virtual identity between space and time, living beings inhabiting a space-time locale of increasing density will experience a concurrent shift in time passage.
Astrology is the science of studying the patterns that can be observed from the interplay of the gravitational forces of all heavenly bodies (planets, stars, quasars, black holes, comets, asteroids and things remaining to be discovered) with our own Earth's gravity. We cannot “see” gravitational forces with our physical sight, but we can physically experience, observe and measure gravity's effects, both on the Earth and in outer space. Astrology enables us to make sense out of these patterns, and to maximize the use of these heavenly energy potentials in our own lives.
I do not begin to understand either the mathematics or the physics of why we are currently in a time warp. I do, however, observe, sense and experience the effects in my environment of time speeding up, as have numerous others I have queried on the subject. This month's column addresses musings on the imprecations of the historical prelude to this time warp, and what it now portends for global shifts in human consciousness.
Some Interesting Facts About LSD
It will be interesting to see how many people will read this page because they put “LSD” into a search engine. However, this section's heading is not a mere trick to attract readership. LSD, an acronym for lysergic acid diethylamide, has been a taboo subject in our society for way too long. It is important for us to understand what this substance is, where it came from and why we have to talk about it.
Many people associate LSD with the psychedelic era of the 1960s and early 1970s, and with the late former Harvard psychologist Timothy Leary. Dr. Leary experimented extensively with LSD, and sacrificed his academic career as a result. It was Tim Leary who admonished us to “drop out, tune in, turn on.” Many people also associate burnout, brain damage, personality changes and chromosome damage with LSD usage. The truth was deliberately muddied with some utter chaff.
The truth about the LSD phenomenon has eluded popular discourse for generations because much of the relevant information has been censored by the U.S. Government. Although some censorship actually merits the doublespeak catch-all phrase “national security,” the vast majority of censored Government information is withheld because it is embarrassing to the Government. A prime example is when the Government's own laws are broken by U.S. Government employees and/or agents acting with their superiors' knowledge and approval. (Do you remember when Richard Nixon authorized U.S. Government operatives to install illegal listening devices at Democratic National Headquarters? Do you recall the CIA was exposed as engaging in domestic spying in direct contravention of an executive order signed by Jimmy Carter revoking their authority to do so? And can you forget Oliver North and the Iran-Contra adventure?)
Another prime example is when the U.S. Government violates individual citizens' constitutional rights. For example, most of the prisons in the United States operate in flagrant contravention of the U.S. Constitution's Eighth Amendment prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment. When Sol Wachtler's book gets published we will get an earful on this subject. Sol Wachtler, as some of you may recall, was Chief Justice of the New York State Court of Appeals, the highest court in New York state. Judge Wachtler had a mid-life crisis that resulted in his spending some time as a guest of the state penal system.
Understand that Sol Wachtler was not just any judge -- he was one of the most distinguished judges in the entire country. As a law student I read many of his opinions and continue to hold him in the highest esteem, even though he did hard jail time for stalking. As a judge, Sol Wachtler had sentenced hundreds of criminals to time in a penal system he knew nothing about. As an inmate, he was able to see the real workings of our prison system. He realized that outside evaluators were only shown certain parts of jails and prisons that had been prettied up for them to view. Visitors were never exposed to the harsh realities of prison life. It was his karma to experience not only the inhumane treatment of our prison system, but the sadistic conditions of solitary confinement, where he was relegated for his own “security” due to attempts on his life by inmates whom he had put away.
The point of this is that there are some ugly things going on in this country that the Government is fully aware of and is actively covering up. Of course, since Pluto is in Sagittarius they will not be able to continue to cover anything up for long, as evidenced by Sol Wachtler's forthcoming book. Now here are some things you should know about the LSD cover-up. LSD was developed by the United States Government under the guise of the U.S. Army. With recent publicity surrounding Gulf War syndrome, more Americans are aware that enlisted military personnel are used by the military as laboratory rats. Military personnel are routinely involved in drug experiments, often without their knowledge.
Some time ago the U.S. Government finally admitted that thousands of military personnel had unknowingly been given LSD during the early 1960s by the military as part of a U.S. Government research project. Many of these people suffered serious psychotic reactions from these experiments. Some died, while others endured lifelong impairments of various kinds. Eventually the Government gave some financial compensation to the surviving victims.
LSD was designed to mimic psychosis. It was originally conceived of as a kind of weapon/torture tactic. The idea was to be able to put a drug into a country's water supply in order to drive the enemy insane. The interesting thing is that, in designing a drug to create insanity, the Government was laboring under some fundamental misunderstandings about what constitutes psychosis.
Having digressed on the horrors of the U.S. prison system, I will refrain from digressing on the horrors of this country's mental health system. Suffice it to say that many people who, being mislabeled as psychotic, have been incarcerated in psychiatric institutions and insane asylums as psychotic were actually spiritually gifted. As these individuals were in the process of opening to awareness and use of these gifts, they frightened everyone around them into diagnosing them as psychotic. Hearing voices and seeing beings and colors on the etheric plane (also known as “traveling between the dimensions”) are considered socially unacceptable activities in our allegedly sane and rational society. The truth is that our society is insane. Too many suffer under the delusion that the material world is the sum total of existence, believing that the only way to experience heaven is to die first. Harboring this delusion led to research results the Government never expected.
Although LSD was created to combat external enemies, during the social unrest of the 1960s the military decided to use LSD to impair internal enemies -- antiwar protesters and other social undesirables. A certain percentage of the acid consumed by '60s hippies was actually made in U.S. Government laboratories and deliberately distributed to this population by U.S. Government agents. It was the Government's hope that rampant LSD use among peaceniks and other radicals would make these individuals so psychotic they would lose the ability to function in society (and thus be unable to organize protests and continue to embarrass the Government).
What actually happened was that many of the “undesirables” the military was hoping to neutralize through LSD experimentation were actually activating their spiritual gifts while under the drug's influence. Unfortunately, some of the early recreational LSD users consumed the drug in such massive quantities that they “burned out,” suffering permanent effects, such as somewhat diminished mental capacity and/or nervous system damage. Subsequent generations, however, experimented with much smaller dosages than their predecessors, thus avoiding burnout and other unpleasantries associated with LSD excesses.
Debunking Reports of Chromosome Damage
After distributing LSD to populations of people the Government didn't like, the Government then undertook studies in the 1960s to use as part of a massive drug education program on the evils of LSD. This drug education was designed to prevent LSD use by people the Government liked. One of the most widely-publicized studies of that era claimed that LSD use led to chromosome damage. This was passed off as reputable science and is still widely-believed today, even though the studies were seriously flawed.
The chromosome-testing technology used in these experiments was quite new at the time. The Government LSD studies employed the first widespread use of these techniques. Since a certain percentage of the subjects showed chromosome damage, Government scientists, laboring under political pressure from their respective agencies' management, concluded that LSD causes chromosome damage. These findings were very heavily publicized by all the usual Government propaganda outlets (i.e., just about everything but the leftists and the progressives).
However, by the time the chromosome-testing technology had been used thousands of times in hundreds of experiments over a few decades, scientists were able to determine that a certain amount of chromosome breakage is randomly distributed throughout a normal population. When non-Government scientists compared the known percentage of chromosome breakage to the percentage of chromosome breakage in the early LSD studies, the percentages were the same. Hence there was no evidence at all to support the Government's widely-used scare tactic that LSD use results in chromosome breakage.
A Word About Drug Education
Although I was a child in the '60s, I never thought about dropping acid one way or the other until I saw a “drug education” film strip about the evils of LSD in an eighth-grade health class. The film strip had the desired effect on most of the class. The three smartest girls in the class, however (myself and two of my girl-genius friends) decided that acid appeared to be really interesting stuff. We reasoned that since LSD is a psychoactive drug (which goes to work on whatever mental state one happens to be in at the time), the only way to have a bad trip was to not be in control of one's own mind. We all decided we would wait until we were a few years older and felt we had enough mental control to experiment with LSD and other hallucinogens.
As a college student in the 1970s, it was my experience that the smartest and most interesting people in America's colleges and universities were the very ones who were experimenting with the most intriguing drugs. During that time some of the best acid was being manufactured in dormitories and college laboratory basements at some of America's finest academic institutions, such as MIT, Cal Tech, Stanford, the University of Massachusetts, etc. The people who manufactured and consumed these drugs are now in their forties and fifties. These are mature people who have gone through their Uranus oppositions and their Chiron returns. Many of these people are professionals and/or are in positions of power. (If you think I am the only former Wall Street lawyer to have dropped acid in the '70s, you had better think again.) Obviously our brains were not destroyed at all, since many of us are intelligent, creative and successful members of what functions as society.
For example, our illustrious Vice President Al Gore and his wife Tipper are both “former” deadheads. While there are a few deadheads who have never experimented with hallucinogenic drugs, the fact is that most deadheads have done so willingly and repeatedly. Do you honestly believe for a minute that Al and Tipper Gore have never had hallucinations? PLEASE!!! Besides, Bill Maher has stated on his wonderful television show “Politically Incorrect” that he knows for a fact Al Gore was an acid-head in college. Since I am a major Bill Maher fan, far be it from me to question Bill's scholarship on this issue.
The point is this. Millions of Americans have experimented with hallucinogenic drugs. Many of these people are highly intelligent, respected members of society who are not at all sorry they ingested a drug that enabled them to experience other realities. LSD is both an interpersonal and an intrapersonal drug. Tripping, especially in small groups, has been a highly beneficial physical, mental, emotional and spiritual experience for many people.
Those of us who explored hallucinogens did so out of a desire to transcend physical reality. This desire, whether sated through natural or chemical means, is a choice to be honored and respected, not criticized and condemned. It is time for humans at large to wake up to the fact that other realities exist, and that there are many valid ways of reaching those realities. The time warp we are currently experiencing is evidence that nature is preparing us for a massive shift in consciousness. Those of us who have experimented with mind-altering substances will actually have an easier time with the coming earth changes, due to our prior experience with other, more vivid realities -- provided, of course, that we meditate on a regular basis, have faith in universal consciousness and trust the wisdom of our own souls.
